Back then, I used to play badminton with my sisters but there will always be a problem. HUGE problem! Which happens when your shuttlecock was stranded on your roof. So, my sister and I decided to play outside the gate. After days of playing in the area, then my neighbour and his brother went out to play badminton also. As we're quite bored playing together so, we decide maybe we should just play with them. As we play together, more kids from my neighbourhood join us. At first, they did not have any confident to play together as my twin and I are Bumiputera which the language is a major problem for us to communicate. Yeah, we find out that all of them does not speak Malay well so as English. Still, we play together that even my neighbours wondering on how their kids was able to play with us if they don't even know how to speak Malay well and so as my sister and I did not even know how to speak Mandarin. Luckily, there's one of the girls from my neighbourhood knows speak Malay. Well, it was not that fluently. Her name is 'J'.
She has 4 siblings including herself. She rarely plays with us as her father was so strict. She only plays before her father come back from work or else. It's a very bad idea! Then, we have another girl from around of our neighbourhood, Sammy. She has the same age with me and not forgotten another boy who also has the same age but the only different is he was in Form 4 while the three of us was in Form 5 this year. The boy has a 14-year-old sister and a brother now 13-year-old. At last but not least, The three brothers who were opposite us. The eldest was 16 while the others not really sure. All of them, alway confuse with my sister name with 'Alice' but actually it was her nickname, 'Ely'. Among all of them, there is another kid who is an Iban little boy who was around 4-5-year-old during the time. He was the youngest among all of us. I think the boy might be around 10-year-old by now. He moved after a few months playing with us. At first, that little boy seems so lonely that he keep shouting from the balcony which ends up to join us. My mother do nag us for always playing with them that we don't even done the house chores. Well, for my family by age 10-year-old, every girl need to do house chores. But it quite worth as we learn a bit of game being played by every Chinese kid.
As I watch the kids from my neighbourhood, they are quite lucky as the kids have one language to communicate, the Bahasa Melayu. I miss every moment with them now as when I was 12-year-old, I hardly to spare my time with them as I was so busy attending extra class for the public exam. All of us grown into teens now, now we only watch the new generation playing together without counting their skin colour or races and the religion. I was grateful to be born in this country. May the harmony of every races in my country last long. Eyy.. It late now. Tomorrow, I have to wake up early..hrmm... Tata!
